Giving Back: May

Why Give?

We recognize that our world is better off when we practice the art of giving. As a company, we believe that we should be profitable but with those profits should be good stewards to our local community.

One member of our team gets to pick a charity that we as a company can support for the month. This month’s charity, Habitat For Humanity – Women Build, was chosen by Brooks Parker.

Q&A with Brooks Parker – Sales Manager

1. Tell us about the organization you chose.

Habitat for Humanity has been doing great work all across the country for decades, helping struggling families realize their dreams of home ownership. Women Build is a newer division under Habitat For Humanity that utilizes crews of women to fundraise in their communities and build homes especially for single mothers and women who need a helping hand.

2. Why is this organization important to you or how has it impacted you personally?

I know several of the women involved in our local Women Build projects, and have come to know the stories of some of the women and families that have benefited from their efforts. I’ve seen how home ownership gives these women a solid platform from which to launch into a more stable and secure chapter of life for themselves and their children. A simple roof over their heads can change everything from their health to their ability to earn an income. What a gift to be able to make such a difference in the direction of someone’s life!

3. Finish the sentence: I give back because…

I give back because I have been blessed with much and I believe strongly that I am called to share it.

4. If you could give a word of encouragement to this organization, what would it be?

Press on to raise roofs over the heads of the homeless here in our community – we are grateful for your dedication and determination to such a life-changing endeavor.
