Why Give?
We recognize that our world is better off when we practice the art of giving. As a company, we believe that we should be profitable but with those profits should be good stewards to our local community.
That being said, this year we are going to feature a charity spotlight that our employees pick on a monthly basis. Read below about this month’s Charity, People Loving Nashville chosen by one of our Tour Managers, David Burns!
Q&A with David Burns – Production Manager
David is a graduate of Greenville College where he majored in the music industry. After two years of working on large scale events across the country, David joined Streamline in the fall of 2016.
1. Tell us about the organization you chose.
People Loving Nashville began over 10 years ago with a few generous Nashvillians who saw their Thanksgiving leftovers as an inspiration to share with the homeless. Today People Loving Nashville meets downtown every Monday to hand out a hot dinner and other necessities to those in need. But what makes PLN special is their empathetic approach to see everyone as equals. More than providing physical solutions, they also take the time to sit and have conversations with those who attend. “We are all hungry, so we bring food… We are all broken, so we bring ears to listen and hear.” (PeopleLovingNashville.com)
2. Why is this organization important to you or how has it impacted you personally?
I have volunteered with PLN in the past and have gotten to see both the enthusiasm of the volunteers about their mission, and the impact their efforts have on the people they serve. Many of the volunteers and homeless greet each other by name. They have built a feeling of community beyond handing out food. It’s hard to see so many suffer homelessness but is inspiring to witness members of the Nashville community give their time and resources to love others well.
